During the ITMA 2019 trade show Baldwin Technology will launch TexCoat G4, a new generation of the contactless textile finishing application system with extensive process control and remarkably fast chemical changeover times
Baldwin Technology offers revolutionizing innovations and expertise of the Precision Application Technology with focus on superior textile finishing results, enhanced economic and environmental efficiency of production processes.
During the ITMA 2019 tradeshow in Barcelona, the company will showcase for the first time TexCoat G4, a new generation of the contactless textile finishing application system with extensive process control and remarkably fast chemical changeover times – just a few minutes per changeover – thanks to automatic flushing and multiple chemistry supply intakes. With proven ability to reduce production downtime by up to 80%, hours of valuable production time can be saved, every day.
Less energy, water and chemicals, better finishing quality
TexCoat G4 utilizes the Baldwin developed Precision Application Technology, enabling a sustainable textile and non-woven finishing process with continuously optimal coverage of the precise amount of chemical and water applied. There is no waste of chemicals in the process.
Since the Precision Application Technology is completely eliminating the need of a foulard pad, there is no dilution from water to chemicals, leading to a consistent finishing quality, less water and chemicals consumption and considerably faster drying, thus a faster production speed and up to 50% lower energy consumption.

The ability to spray chemicals onto just one side of the fabric with TexCoat G4, makes it easy to treat the surface where the purpose of the chemicals is most important, e.g. for technical textiles, water repellant, laminating etc. There is no need to soak the complete fabric and additionally, the process speed becomes considerably faster and requires less energy for drying.
The water pick-up rate is dramatically reduced by as much as 40-50% for water repellant and softeners in wet-on-wet applications compared to traditional ways of textile finishing. Again, the drying process becomes considerably faster and requires less energy.
Featured with connectivity IoT and innovative interface – there is full control of the process including real-time and online monitoring and support, process data reports, volume presetting and recipe management – makes it easy to operate and keeping a continuously maximum operational performance and high quality of the end result. Individually adjusted spray nozzles as well as the flexibility to quickly adapt the application to current production circumstances enable total control of the textile finishing process.
The maintenance is fast, safe and easily performed. With replaceable valve rails, the service can be performed off line without any stoppages in production. Mist containment covers keep the chemicals encapsulated, preventing aerosols from escaping into the air, securing a clean and healthy working environment.
For companies aiming at sustainable production
One of the biggest challenges facing the textile finishing industry today is the environmental impact in terms of energy, chemicals and water consumption, with continuously increasing sustainability legislations and consumer demands to meet. Since TexCoat G4 provides an exactly controlled amount of chemicals to the water ratio throughout the production run, it is proven to downgrade the water and chemistry usage by up to 50%, leading to a considerably faster drying and again, enhanced process control and a sustainable production.
Operating equally successful on textiles, non-woven and technical textiles, the TexCoat G4 is able to process a wide range of low-viscosity water-based chemicals, such as water repellent, softener, anti-microbial and more. Additionally, the system is completely sealed encapsulating the chemicals, for a healthy working environment and minimal waste at changeovers.
The advantages of using this technology are proven:
- save water, up to 50%;
- reduce energy consumption, up to 50%;
- save chemicals, up to 50%;
- enhance efficiency, up to 80 % reduced downtime.
Baldwin Technology is a global concern with 21 locations worldwide. The Precision Application Technology for textile finishing is installed and in operation successfully in over 40 installations in Latin America, Europe and Asia covering softening, water repellant and antimicrobial applications for clothing, upholstery, technical textiles and more.
